Wodonga Race 6 Preview, Tips & Rated Prices: A Slow-Tempo Sprint

A slow-tempo sprint at Wodonga where the shape does a lot of the talking, and the runner who controls the speed is where the value sits.

The Race

Race 6 at Wodonga is a $27,000 sprint jumping at 4:00pm AEST, with eight going around on a fine day and the rail out three metres for the entire circuit. It is a compact field with a clear tactical split between those who can hold a spot up front and those forced to make ground late. On a card built around pace, this is the one where the map matters most.

The Pace Picture

The tempo reads Slow with a pressure figure of 22.13 percent, which is a soft, unpressured shape. In a sprint that is a genuine problem for the runners settling deep and a genuine advantage for anyone parked on the speed.

Black Panther (7) is the one who maps to lead, holding ppir 1, with Russian Sky (5) the next closest on ppir 2. From there the on-pace picture is filled out by Brial Rose (1) on ppir 3 and Balgowan (10) on ppir 4. The runners the tempo hurts are Sheanadh (3), who maps to get well back on ppir 8, Apple Cider (9) on ppir 7, and See You Then (6) on ppir 6.
