In episode 5 of The Grind, Kingsley walks through a three-day punting weekend and then spends most of the session inside the TKZ analysis tool, testing how the site's positive factors combine to produce profit or loss.

The Weekend On The Punt

Friday started at a charity lunch for the Mark Hughes Foundation at Randwick Racecourse, where TKZ raised $30,000. On the punt, Friday returned four winners from nine bets and a profit of $618 betting to win $200 with a max bet of $100, sitting at 145% profit.

Saturday was harder. From 38 official bets there were six winners at a 15.8% strike rate, leaving a $616 loss that squared off Friday. Kingsley noted Private Eye ran well after Nash Rella took the initiative to lead off a cruising rank of one, while best bet Palaton (cruising rank one, sat third) went down, and Eurobberus was caught on the line by Spywire.

Sunday, a free access day for the platform, produced seven winners from 18 bets for a 73.9% profit.

Handling Pressure And Good Runs

Kingsley's main message from the Eurobberus loss was to stop when you feel out of control, walk away, clear your head, and return to your rules. He said the way to avoid losing control is planning both selections and staking before your first bet, including planning for a day where you don't collect, so you survive to see the next day.

He added that good runs need the same discipline as bad runs: keep staking the same unless your bank has grown, keep reviewing bet selection, and keep working the process.

Testing The Positive Factors

Kingsley ran queries in the analysis tool covering results from June 12 to August 17, filtering horses priced $1.50 to $20 to reduce the effect of long shots. Backing all horses in that range showed roughly minus 4%.

He demonstrated building queries by combining factors that logically fit together. Ideal distance alone was around minus 4%, but adding jockey edge lifted it to about 7%, adding race pressure to 12.7%. A good jockey from barrier one returned 15% over 411 bets, while low-rated jockeys from wide barriers showed minus 21%. Slow tempos plus a cruising rank of one or two returned 14%.

Pricing And Value

Kingsley stressed value over simply backing winners, pointing to short-priced peak-rating and upside-factor runners that win often but lose money. Good value in early betting returned 6.3% over 2,566 bets, judged against a dynamic high price averaging around 104-105%.

Breaking price bands down, overlays at $4 to $20 returned 16.66% over 1,651 bets, while he cautioned against roughies over $21.

Kingsley said the analysis tool will eventually be available to members and is the tool he sees as most important, letting users build their own systems within the system.
