Max Bet: Zealously at Caulfield

Kingsley opens with Zealously in race six at Caulfield, his best bet of the day. He reports taking $2.70 and $2.60 on the horse already and plans to have more on race day, particularly if it looks likely to lead.

His case rests on speed. Zealously's last-start win came at Warwick Farm, where the horse broke the track record set by Snitzel in 2013. The horse now drops back to a 1,000m race in Melbourne with little early tempo, which Kingsley favours. Zealously has the top last-start rating, will lead with Robbie Dolan aboard, and carries only 53 kilos. Kingsley prices it at $1.90.

He notes Zealously is a genuine 1,000m specialist, unlike several rivals better suited to 1,100m. He opposes Reynaldo (priced $12, carrying 59 kilos, six months off), Nadal ($14, first up), Arabian Summer, Sherpa (no trial found), Piscanello ($17) and Gigi's ($100). As a rough place chance he suggests Philosopher, where he expects around $15 the place from barrier one.

Caulfield Cup: Half Yours

Kingsley describes the Caulfield Cup as weak in terms of in-form horses, with many runners either out of form or set for the Melbourne Cup. His selection is Half Yours, coming out of the Turnbull Stakes, a race he expects to be the spring's key form reference and one he believes will produce the Caulfield Cup, Cox Plate and Melbourne Cup winners.

Half Yours ran on over 2,000m off a slow early pace in the Turnbull. The horse has previously won over 2,400m, showing it can stay, and drops weight for this race. Kingsley rates it 103 on class-speed-weight, notes a peak last-start rating, and highlights Jamie Kah from barrier two carrying 52.5 kilos. He took $3 on Saturday and plans to add more, dismissing criticism of Kah's recent form.

He treats much of the field as out of form, mentions Land Legend, Zardozi and Adelaide River as possible upset horses out of the Turnbull, and suggests Plymouth Rock at around 70/1 for exotics or place bets. Ben is flagged as a horse of interest, particularly with the Melbourne Cup in mind.

The Everest at Randwick

Kingsley briefly runs through his market for the $20 million Everest, referring back to a separate preview. He prices Ka Ying Rising at $2.10 against a bookmaker price near $1.80, and Real Steel at $21 versus around $16.

He intends to back Jolly Star, marked at $5.50 with $7 available and possibly up to $8. He also nominates Lady Shannon Doer as a good rough, currently around $15-17, and says he will wait for a longer price. Ka Ying Rising is placed second and Tempted fourth in his assessment, while he opposes several others including War Machine, which he thinks is too well found.

Spring With The King

Kingsley promotes the closing Spring With The King offer: eight of the biggest spring meetings for the price of four, priced at $200 or $25 a meeting, including ratings, prices and selections.
