Max Bet Ep 3 – Group Racing Returns! Track Bias Masterclass + 2 Max Bets for Saturday
Track bias at Randwick on heavy ground
Kingsley opens Episode 3 by looking at how to predict track bias before a meeting, using a wet Randwick as the example. With Sydney having had a lot of rain, the track is rated a heavy nine and could go to a heavy 10 if more rain arrives.
He breaks Randwick down by barrier on heavy 8s, 9s and 10s from 2018 (343 races). Barrier one shows a profit around plus 4%, barrier two plus 19, barriers three and four break about square, and barriers five and six lose roughly 4-5% combined. Barriers eight and wider (1,210 bets) show a minus 22% loss overall, with every year since 2018 losing more than 10%, apart from a small 2025 sample he warns not to rely on. He notes the rail is back in the true this week, which he says makes a difference. Kingsley also points to the cruising metric on the TKZ site (rank one plus 27%, rank two plus 11%) and settled-position data, where the leader at the 600m mark won 36% on that heavy sample. Backing the actual leader across all races since 2018 returns 40% on turnover, which he ties to in-running betting and to horses that can settle closer than usual.
Max bet one: Peter's Heart, Morphettville Race 1
His first max bet is Peter's Heart over 2,800m on a seven-day backup. He sees the race between Peter's Heart and Silent Emmy, with the market having found both. Peter's Heart drops from barrier eight or nine to barrier one, can sit closer off a hot speed, and gets a weight drop. Kingsley priced Peter's Heart at $3 and Silent Emmy at $3.40.
Silent Emmy is the leader with the best cruising (rank one, 97) but is backing up off a heavy 10 win, which he thinks may take a toll. He rates the upside factor, better draw and race pressure highly for Peter's Heart. He is against Test the Law (carrying 64.5kg) and Dixie Whistler, and notes Silent Emmy and Peter's Heart have clear upside on limited starts compared with the rest.
Max bet two: Bonita Queen, Randwick Race 5
His second max bet is Bonita Queen over 1,000m, a mare who goes straight to the front and suits a rail-in, on-pace heavy track. She trialled impressively against quality horses. Trainer Bjorn Baker has said he will scratch if it becomes a heavy 10, which Kingsley respects. Bonita Queen has a rank one cruising and rank one class-speed-weight rating (92), and he priced her at $2.40. He rates Bundina the danger, likes Zoo Greb as value for exotics despite an awkward barrier nine, and is against World Alliance and Frilled as they map to get back.
The Missile, Randwick Race 8
In the Group 2 Missile (1,200m), Private Eye has been scratched after trialling that morning, which Kingsley thinks helps General Salute up one grid position. He makes Brudnell his top pick and the value at $5.50, expecting it to lead or sit second from barrier seven. General Salute is his second pick and current favourite. He is against Robusto (barrier eight, back to 1,200m) and Romeo's Choice.
Kingsley closes by saying he is confident in both max bets and will see viewers on Monday.
