In Episode 9 of Max Bet, Kingsley walks through two feature races — the Fen Stakes at The Valley and the Golden Rose at Rosehill — explaining his case for Pride of Jenni and Wenton, and inviting viewers to share their own views on video form study.

Kingsley opens by flagging Free Form Friday and Free Form Sunday for members, adding to the existing Free Form Saturday. He notes roughly eight meetings on Friday and around eight on Sunday. Membership starts at $25 a week for the Saturday Zone level.

Fen Stakes — Pride of Jenni

Kingsley makes Pride of Jenni his max bet in the Fen Stakes (Moonee Valley, race six, 1600m). He points to her jump-out at Cranbourne, where she led easily, and to her last preparation: after being zero from eight going into that prep, she won the Peter Young rated 104.5 — equal to her highest rating ever — first up over around 1800m. She also won this same race last year, beating Mr Brightside. Blake Bates returns and Kingsley says he rates her well in front and knows the horse. He is against Treasure The Moment second up (being aimed at a Cox Plate), citing a possible second-up drop after a peak first-up run, as seen with Via Sistina, and the fact she hasn't seen Moonee Valley. On betting, he notes Pride of Jenni firming (backed at around $4.40–$4.20 himself, into $3.50 with some books), Treasure The Moment best at $1.56, and heavy resistance to Tom Kitten, who drifted with Ladbrokes to $6 ($7 on Betfair). Kingsley has laid Tom Kitten and expects Pride of Jenni to firm further if the track is leader-friendly.

Golden Rose — Wenton and video form

Kingsley calls the Golden Rose (Rosehill, race eight, 1400m) the race of the day and a fascinating form race. He replays the Run to the Roses (1200m), noting Wenton was posted three wide with no cover, while Tempted got a good run behind and won over Bayvar, Skyhook, Wenton and Riverino. After the line, several horses — Wenton, Skyhook, Bayvar and Riverino — went past Tempted. He openly asks viewers whether horses passing after the post is a positive for the step up to 1400m, and how to weigh Wenton's three-wide run. He rates himself a data man rather than a video expert and invites feedback.

Golden Rose — the case and prices

Kingsley puts Wenton on top, citing strong Cam numbers (98), a fast cruising speed (85) he couldn't use last start from a wide draw, and acceleration of 112 versus Tempted's 111. From barrier one he expects Wenton to sit handier and in front of Tempted, comparing the wide-draw scenario to Lady Shannon at The Valley. He marks Wenton around $5 (available $5.50). He likes Bayvar at double figures (up to $12.50 Betfair) despite the 1400m query, sees Autumn Boy as improving and value against 60s, and lists negatives for Tempted: barrier eight, never raced past 1200m, and a possible second-up flat run after a dominant first-up win.

Kingsley closes by asking viewers to name their own max bet and a reason why.
